From Picasso's series of etchings entitled “Suite Vollard”
Publisher: Roger Lacourière, Paris
Suite Vollard was a collection of 100 engravings commissioned by art dealer and collector Ambroise Vollard, who was also responsible for organizing Picasso's first solo exhibition in 1901. Despite Vollard's untimely death before the series was completed, these etchings were printed in 1939 and only went on sale in 1950.
Initially, 313 etched copies were made from each plate; they are very rarely available on the market. Other plates from Vallar's 1956 edition are also available. Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was a Spanish painter, founder of Cubism, and, according to a 2009 poll by The Times, the most famous artist of the 20th century. He created a huge number of works, including paintings, sculptures, engravings, ceramics, and book illustrations. Picasso is known for his variety of styles and creative periods, including the “blue period,” “rose period,” and Cubism.
